Camano Island, Washington

This residence is a beachside retreat located on the eastern side of Camano Island, with views to the Cascade Mountains. The client requested a design incorporating traditional elements such as wood shingle siding, a natural stone fireplace, and a wood-burning cook stove, yet they were open to a modern aesthetic.

Because the retreat is to be shared by three generations of one family, the program called for three separate sleeping areas with their own bath areas. The kitchen, dining and living areas are considered to be a common area, and is left open with expansive glass to take in views of the beach and sound.
