Camano Commons

Camano Commons is a retail village located at a major crossroad on Camano Island. It is master planned to integrate with a park and ride and with nearby Freedom Park. When it is fully developed there will be nine buildings surrounding a courtyard designed for seating and pedestrian activities.
The design approach for the Commons was to create a sense of enclosure by encircling the courtyard with buildings. Two pedestrian gateways lead into the courtyard. The exterior materials pallet, made up of metal panels, concrete, and cedar siding, was chosen for its durability, low maintenance, and for its relationship to existing Camano Island vernacular architecture
